"Ice, you will be missed."
As the founder of Amadon Hills Thoroughbred Foundation, our mission is to help preserve the Thoroughbred and Sport horse life through our rescue and aftercare services, knowing that many of the horses we bring on may have unannounced issues. With that being said, one of our beloved Thoroughbreds was sent to cross the rainbow bridge on January 8, 2024, Ice.
Ice was a one-of-a-kind amazing Thoroughbred who had true integrity. He was one of the last babies bred from the Fallstaff lineage - bred to race but was so kind that the jockey that acquired him made Ice his riding horse. Ice was treated like the King he was throughout his life and the moment that he arrived at Amadon Hills.
Ice was a late cut; he was a stallion until six years of age but never acted like a stud. He had a fantastic temperament, so he was pulled from the track, and his abilities were used as a superb Fox Hunter and go-to Whipper-In partner. Even though Ice was retired, he always wanted to continue to move even after arriving at AH, self-lunging by trotting repeated circles in his paddock or waiting patiently at his paddock gate to go - and they're off!
I am proud that Ice was handled and treated like the King that he was. He became his true self again during the last seven months of his life with us at Amadon Hills. He was afforded daily turnouts in large jumping arenas where he would show himself as just all that! He would maneuver himself into the tack room looking for the grub and cookie treats; he was cared for like the top-tier horse that he was - most notably, respected and loved.
Ice never did anything wrong throughout his life. He was a lover, and the smooch that he was will make his departure greatly missed. His bond was strong. He would follow, give hugs, always be the first to approach, never sidestep away, perfectly behaved, had gentle ground manners, and under saddle, an amazing ride. You could feel his fire that proved him to be the Champion that he was. Ice, you will be missed. May your spirit carry on and touch those fortunate enough in this life to experience your presence. God bless you, and I thank you for being part of my life.

"Rembrandt, you will be missed."
As the founder of Amadon Hills Thoroughbred Foundation, our mission is to help preserve the Thoroughbred and Sport horse life through our rescue and aftercare services, knowing that many of the horses we bring on may have unannounced issues. With that being said, our beloved Thoroughbred/Oldenburg was sent to cross the rainbow bridge on January 13, 2024, Remi.
Remi was a generous, kind soul who was a horse of genuine compassion, always wanting to buddy up in pack formation with any horse or human. His kindness radiated to where people would gravitate to him to gaze at and say hi, putting a smile on anyone’s face, and let’s not forget his smile! He was one of the Secretariat lineage who held on to that kind spirit, a Hunter Jumper Champion in competition, and a teacher for children and adults. Rembrandt was treated as the peaceful, Gentle Giant he was and cared for throughout his years at Amadon Hills.
One of Remi’s endearing attributes was that he had a voice as big as the world and a talkative one. When left on his own devices, he would call out to check-in. When feed time was had, he would nicker. When exercising, he would whine to let the world know he was free. When passing other horses, he would greet them with a neigh. But the most enduring was when arriving to him, he would always say hi with 2 - 3 happy neighs, and with his evening supplement and dinner - he would quietly nicker under his breath while preparing his meal, doing his back-back and while following until his meal was set on the ground. A vocal boy. He called, and you always knew where your team member was; you could never get lost on his watch. He would not allow it. A perfect dance partner!
Remi was a dream horse, and I am proud that he could become the leader of his pack, where he could fully express himself and be just that! This allowed him to be himself, own, and have his space. With his beautiful, deep copper coat, as shiny as a penny, you could catch his sparkle from a mile away. Glorious, he was against a blue sky and the green hills; that is how BIG his love and compassion were towards humanity, where he promoted perpetual peace.
Rembrandt held the gates open for Amadon Hills to thrive. He showed us partnership, companionship, compassion, and trust. He gave us the courage to continue and develop our true nature of perpetual peace. Remi, you will be greatly missed. May your spirit carry on and touch those fortunate enough to experience your presence in this life. God bless you, and I thank you for being part of my life.
