Spring has sprung for Mason!
Spring has most definitely sprung—and so have we at Amadon Hills! With the sun shining warm and bright, we jumped into action and gave Mason his first bath since joining us. Just look at our gorgeous Thoroughbred—what a stunner!
Huge thanks to one of our amazing volunteers for capturing this moment.
Amadon Hills would like to thank Maria for stepping up to take on the responsibility and help with Mason in the evenings (four nights per week M-Thr). This role required a person with a keen eye and experience in horsemanship, and she has undoubtedly filled that spot!
In addition, we would like to thank Baily, who is helping with barn chores to help keep Mason healthy! Amadon Hills is fortunate to have two other lovely individuals who are spending time with Mason to learn the ropes. We can never have too many volunteers.
With expenses rising, Amadon Hills needs someone to help us raise money through grant writing. This is an important role!
If you can help, please reach out to us at info@amadonhills.org. Please help us keep Mason SHINY!
Thank you for being part of Mason’s journey and supporting Amadon Hills! This is a significant expense for our small nonprofit.
Located at Valley Brook Equestrian Center in Napa, California, our intimate barn shares a fence line with one of Napa Valley's renowned vineyards. It offers stunning views of the Vaca Mountain Range. Our horses live in a place where the environment promotes peace and well-being.
In preparation for receiving Remi and Ice, our barn underwent a facelift. Projects included: Restaining the barn's wood to help with weather protection and adding paneling to enclose the covered paddock, providing a dry space during winter and a shaded area during summer. We installed a large, standing watering trough to promote optimal horse health. We regraded the paddock for proper drainage and added new footing for optimal hoof health.
Even though these changes have been made, barn health is a constant; donations would be greatly appreciated to help maintain the horses living space.
Amadon Hills would like to thank Jim Felder with FiXXiT - Home Improvement for Volunteering his time and materials for the barn upgrade.
Please help our cause - by helping our horses - by donating.
At Amadon Hills, we are determined to help educate the public on the importance of equine aftercare.
Were you aware of the 18,143 Thoroughbreds born in the U.S. last year, only 5 percent, or 907 horses, will have the opportunity to race?* Only 20 horses, or 0.001% of each foal crop, will have a chance to compete in the run for the Roses. The fate of thousands of horses without a career in the industry raises serious concerns for their welfare. Public expectation is high that these horses will be appropriately cared for, not least because they have been bred and used for sport and profit in a multi-billion dollar industry.
The truth is that some are cared for and live fruitful lives, but many are categorized as 'wastage'! At Amadon Hills, we are dedicated to the well-being of our country's Thoroughbreds—the retired successes and the less fortunate ones that have been overlooked. Please help us help the horses.
